  • Whole Child Learning specialises in the development of embedded and sustainable projects based around digital media.  We focus on bringing context and purpose to the childrens' learning experience through challenging and exciting initiatives.  Using Animation, Movie Making, Digital Photography and Podcasting to engage and motivate all learners from as young as EY/FS all the way through to Key Stage 4.  Whether it is a 1 or 2 day workshop or a 7 week collapsed curriculum, Whole Child Learning can design bespoke projects planned specifically to meet each schools' individual needs.
  • Whole Child Learning offers a wide range of consultancy and support.  From creative approaches to project and curriculum design, to specific training tailored to a school's needs.  We believe that often the best way to train teachers is by running sessions within a real class context.  With this in mind our workshops and mini projects can incorporate CPD for the staff involved.  We also offer practical staff meeting and PD Day sessions.  To find out more about the consultancy and training offered by Whole Child Learning, please visit our 'Consultancy' section of this site.
  • Research runs through the very heart of Whole Child Learning.  It is extremely important to us that our methods and practice is backed up by thorough research and evidence.  We also run our own research programme and are currently working with the 'Multiliteracies Learning Initiative.'  Please visit the 'Research' section of the this site to find out more about this ground breaking work.

Whole Child Learning
EDUCATING THE WHOLE CHILD

Welcome to the online home of Whole Child Learning.  Here at WCL we are dedicated to the promotion of creative learning environments and dynamic curriculum design.  Our team is made up by a range of experienced teachers, educational researchers and media specialists.  Whether it is  consultancy, sustainable projects or research initiatives, the child is kept at the center of it all.  We feel the curriculum in its strictest form has failed to educate the 'Whole Child' and that we can support schools and educational establishments in a more creative and holistic approach.  Our areas of expertise lie in the designing of sustainable Digital Media based projects, the development of Multimodal approaches to Literacy and the building up of key relationships between education and the commercial world.

RIPON CATHEDRAL

STEEPED IN HISTORY, EDUCATING FOR THE FUTURE

Whole Child Learning has worked closely with the Bradford and Ripon & Leeds Diocesan Education Team to put together a series of Photography Workshops aimed at Primary Schools in North Yorkshire.   All available days for this year have been booked up and we are into our 3rd month of successful sessions. Due to high demand we have organised a handful of extra dates and these too have been taken.  However if your school is interested in looking at Ripon Cathedral through new eyes then please do contact us via email as we are beginning to take bookings for the next academic year.

Teacher's Comment

I felt the day was excellent! The children all enjoyed themselves and we were able to take work back to school to build on and use as a stimulus for other activities. There are no improvements which I can suggest, as I feel the day was well structured and pitched at a very appropriate level for the children. We will be sure to recommend David to encourage other schools in the cluster to sign up.

Kind regards,

Colette Gaizely

Teacher's Comment

I cannot describe how enthusiastic both the teachers and children were on their return - it sort of highjacked our staff meeting our NQT was jotting down loads of teaching 'top tips' - We will certainly be looking at returning.  The elder sisters of a child in kingfishers said, it was all she talked about that night at home - I am hoping to be able to pop some of their work on our website and will acknowledge the event if that is OK with you!

So thank you!
